Photo processing
The core BackgroundBlur editor is designed to process your selected source image in your browser. Your source image is not intentionally transmitted to BackgroundBlur servers for normal segmentation, blur, removal, solid-color replacement, custom local background replacement, manual mask repair, preview, clipboard copy, or export operations.
AI model and runtime files
To perform local segmentation, your browser downloads machine-learning model and runtime files from third-party content infrastructure used by the open-source stack. Those requests can expose ordinary network information such as IP address, browser headers, and request timing to the infrastructure serving those files. Your selected photo is not included in those model-download requests.
Web analytics and performance measurement
BackgroundBlur includes Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights instrumentation to understand aggregate traffic, editor conversion, and real-world performance. Custom editor events can record non-content actions such as choosing an AI engine or background mode, completing an edit, downloading an export, or copying an image. Those events do not include the selected photo, replacement background, mask, or file name. Hosting and analytics infrastructure can still receive normal web-request metadata needed to deliver and measure the site.
Local memory and caching
Selected photos, masks, replacement backgrounds, and generated previews may exist temporarily in browser memory while the editor is open. Your browser may cache application and model files to make future sessions faster. Starting over or closing the tab releases normal in-memory editing state, subject to browser behavior.
Server and security logs
Hosting infrastructure may process routine request metadata needed to serve pages, measure reliability, prevent abuse, and defend the service, such as IP address, requested URL, user agent, timestamps, and security signals. These logs are separate from local photo editing.
Future cloud features
If BackgroundBlur introduces an optional workflow that uploads an image, creates an account, stores files, or otherwise differs materially from the local editor, the product and this policy should identify that distinction before the feature is relied upon.
Children
The service is not directed to children under the age required to consent to online services in their jurisdiction.
