How it works

Background blur works best when the foreground subject and background are separated before the blur is applied. BackgroundBlur estimates that separation first, then renders the background independently and composites the original sharp subject on top.
For natural-looking portraits, avoid pushing blur to the maximum by default. A moderate blur often keeps enough context to make the result believable while still directing attention to the person. If the photo is a pet, product, car, or another non-human subject, switch the editor to Universal AI.
